In the moment, nobody seem to work on an extension of the Text class, apart from text field objects, or do I miss something ?
An idea: If there's not very much useful about MS-DOS/Windows, one thing that NEXTSTEP lacks IMHO against them are key bindings for cursor movement and, perhaps, for text selection. This is probably in fact an OS/GUI issue that NeXT should take care of, but in the meantime an extended Text class could help, I think.
I wonder why XText from Mike Dixon has had no future. It provides the user with a (global) default resource, KeyBindings, that is parsed for ... key bindings that are to be used in any XText object. As default, it gives you an extended set of emacs bindings (including selection commands).
Wouldn't this make sense ?
